Practice

As a multi-disciplinary artist and student of everything, learning is an illuminated practice. Environmental and relational, our materials are in the field of sacred play. My work as an educator is to weave experience and to facilitate learning moments from within the rhythms of Jewish expression.

Teaching Method

Six Essential Ingredients, G!D Talk, and Big Ideas in the Secret Garden are just a few of Shira’s most popular sessions. These courses focus on the developmental, socio-emotional, and spiritual stages of our participants, explore particularism vs universalism, and guide our teachers with a pedagogy of “less doing, more being.”  Also available is consulting and training to build curriculum and enhance programming.

Spiritual Practice of Play

Not just for the kiddos! Play, a.k.a. the language of the spirit, may very well be the bridge between mind and soul. In these sessions, Shira deconstructs theories and tools of play to reveal that Jewish practice is a beautiful and profound living playground. Embracing your innate creative play is the secret to vibrant awareness in daily Jewish life.

Immersive Worship

Our prayers are not written in the book, they are written in the body: personal body, collective body, earth body. Shira guides you toward a generous curiosity in worship development to inform your musical choices, transitions and intentions along the way, providing immediate dynamic tools for congregational engagement and connection.

Shirlala Teaching Archive

ShirLaLa’s teaching archive is a Jewish experiential education resource center serving thousands of parents and teachers since 2005.

I am thrilled to share with you a presentation of my journey, my partnerships and the work that has led to my nomination for the prestigious Covenant Foundation Award. This honor is a tremendous affirmation in my core belief that the creative Source from which I play is in fact the raw material in all of us.
